(sorry this entry takda gambar, agak-agak nak tengok gambar sila self-service google okeh... peace =D)
Sebenarnye benda ni da seasoned sangat da... kalau nak cerita pasal the trip onboard senanye it was like a month ago masa balik Kuching. Tapi, malas nak update, so it seems to be tergendala... tambahan pula gambar-gambar pun takde pasal gambar pun kat member, ak suruh email tak email-email sampaila sekarang aiseh... hehe...
When i was a year old, i've been onboard her sister vessel named Logos, and after 24 years, her sister ship, Logos Hope berthed in Kuching. The word Logos itself has its own meaning, which is 'an expectation', 'a speech' which symbolize the principle of order and knowledge --> correct me if i'm wrong... (sila self-google k' kawan2 if wanna find out more)
Anyway just a lil' story about Logos Hope. When I was back in Kuching a month ago, i had the chance to be onboard MV Logos Hope. She's actually a passanger ship/vessel which can accomodate up to 400 crews, and the crews are from as many as 50 countries worlwide, awesome no? She's known to be the largest floating bookstore on earth... So if you want to know more about the vessel you can either wikipedia or just click the tittle above and it's gonna link you straight away to her website.
She could be the largest floating bookstore on earth, but it's not as large as it sounds. The bookstore could be half or one third the size of MPH Mid Valley (i guess). I am not comparing, just wanna give you guys the idea on how big the size is. The list of titles offered are approximately 5000 books, not so much for Kinokuniya, but for a bookstore that sails around the world, i would say it's pretty okay and acceptable... not impressive enough for me hahahaa...
Just my opinion guys... jangan tembak aku okeh... They also sell some DVDs, CDs for certain musics and movies.
But my main intention pun bukannye nak cari buku sangat pun... Saje je nak datang melawat... menjengah... =). Oh lupe nak bagitau, the entrance fee is only RM1 for adults and 12 years and above and FREE for 12 years and below.
BUT BUT BUT, the good part is, most of the books are pretty cheap compare to the retail price, say for a Narnia book, you could get a hard cover Narnia for only RM20, as far as i remember la....
So those who are fan of Narnias, Shakespeares, Pride and Prejudice, Disneys Publications, i think you can get a great deal here.
All books are priced using Logos Hope Point, and for Malaysia, 8 points= RM5, or the other way round, aku pun da lupa. The reason being is, since the vessel travels round the world, from one country to another the currency changes as well, jadi lebih senang derang letak harga pakai point and convert the point t0 the currency of the country yang derang lepak. That's the logicla...
Another amazing thing about the ship is, all crews are friendly, and we can have chit-chats with the crews and ask them as many Qs as you want in the galley (it's like a dining room for a vessel). They also sell pop-corns (the salted one), ice cream, chocolates, cakes, in the galley. Agak2 leh la feel2 makan2 dalam kapal sambil2 tengok port hole kan hehehe....
I also got myself a chance to have a sit with one of the crews, she's a Korean, and shares lots of things and thoughts. Apparently i forget her name... adeh... maklum da tua... but she looks typical Korean, slim, fair and have fabulous skin and hair hahahaha... Lupe nak mintak Petua Tok Nek Korea dia...
For me it was pretty amazing. The ship is pretty big, i think it's approximately four (4) times larger than my company's biggest vessel (the biggest vessel that we have currently can accomodate 120 crews at a time) . Hurmmm i think she might be a lil' smaller than Star Cruise Virgo, coz last time I saw Star Cruise Virgo in Singapore and Penang, it was like...HUGEEEEEEEE, I don't know whether she can beat Titanic... better not =). Another famous passenger ship that is still in operation until now is Queen Elizabeth 2.
Back to Logos Hope. She was berthing (alongside) Pending Port for about more or less a month. And currently, she's now berthing in Kota Kinabalu until December 13th. Just check out here for her sailing & port call schedule.
For your information, Logos Hope is kind of like a missionary vessel actually... all the crews are Christians and only Christians (i think Roman Catholic) and there are all volunteers thus there are not being paid a single cent while working onboard, so in order to stay onboard for about two (2) years, they ought to have their own fund actually.
The objectives apart from spreading and sharing knowledge; as their motto would say Bringing knowledge, help and hope to the people of the world, would be berdakwahla obviously, thus, they also have their own Mass session every Sunday, and the entry fee is charged at RM5, and you get the chance to get onboard, go to the higher deck and if am not mistaken there's one Chapel an the upper of forcastle deck... kalau tak salah aku la.. The bookstore is located at the main deck.
Kira kalau dalam dunia Islam kita ada Para Tabligh, maka mereka ini also shares the same objective which is to spread their religion.
Nak tanya pasal hukum-hakam visit or beli barang ke apa... don't ask me for am to shallow to answer... and ak pun lastly baru tau when i visited the vessel already...
Love me or hate me, but spare me the indifferences k'
p/s: Ni another story aku nak cerita....
There's a crew, and he was kind of friendly suke senyum and tolong-tolong all the visitors, I asked him, " Hi, where do you from?" So he answered "Jerusalem", ak terkesima kejap, yela maklum tak pernah lagi jumpa orang dari Jerusalem kan... so otak aku yang pakai processor pentium lapuk pun pikir, is he a jewish, a christian or a muslim? Then dia pun dengan cepat jawab balik " I'm from Palestine" So aku noted la...
Then kawan aku naik vessel tu, she said "Thank you", and the palestinian tu pula jawab "Sama-sama, you know, I like the word Sama-Sama in Malay as it sounds so interesting, in Arab, Sama-sama means sky-sky"
Yela, dalam bahasa Arab kan sama tu maksudnye 'langit'. Like "Sama wa ti wal Ard" tu maksudnya 'langit dan bumi'.
And then kawan aku tu jawabla " Oh really? I don't know that",
So the Palestenian crew pun kehairanan lalu bertanya " How come you don't know? You said you prayers in Arabic, but you don't even know the meanings?",
HAH CAMNA NAK JAWAB TU?????
Kawan aku apa lagi, terpinga-pinga la... lalu blah... hehehe... Aku nak tolong jawabkan, tapi aku da menapak ke depan sangat, later baru kawan aku tu cerita hehehe...
Just sharing supaya kita berfikir and improve ourselves k' =)
--The End--
