--the idea--
Last Wednesday, I attended my Medieval English Literature class, and we were discussing on a text, which was The Vision of Piers the Plowman. It was something kind of like a routine for us discuccsing (so called 'discussing' where in fact most of the time the lecturer did the talking things) on the theme, the allegory, and so on regarding the text that we studied.
Later we came to this part where my lecturer emphasized on the Roman Chatolic's ideology or doctrine which was discovered in the early of 18th, 19th centuries, quite new according to him, indeed exist and been discussed during the middle ages, and is found in the text, which is the NECESSARY SIN.
The idea is slightly different from the concept of the ORIGINAL SIN (note: This is not the Angelina Jolie's stuff) which i do not have interest, nor enough knowledge to discuss on, and i believe many of the RCs out there know what Orginal Sin is and so do the Protestants or any other Christians which i think if you want to find out more you could always ask them.
And perhaps i don't really want to discuss the exact concept of Necessary Sin herein, but more to discuss the concept on my perspective as a Muslim. I may not a scholar in Islamic Studies , which i believe they have more relevant and more professional explainations and arguments regarding to this topic, but i just want to share my unprofessional opinion regarding this matter.
All of us, regardless whether we are Muslims, Christians, or even Jewish, we believe that Adam p.b.u.h. and Eve were expelled from the Heaven due to the one sin, eating the Forbidden Fruit (Buah Khuldi). And if they did not eat the fruit, we, human might still live happily in the Eden's Garden or in the Heaven. Ironically we are not, and indeed we are now living happily in this so called the wonderful world.
But as far as i concern, and from what i have learnt, that particular event where Adam p.b.u.h and Eve eating the Forbidden Fruit was only being a medium, or a reason for them to be sent to earth. Even if they do not eat the fruit, they will be sent to the earth sooner or later. Reason? Humans are created to be the caliphs on earth.
As in the concept of Necessary Sin, Adam p.b.u.h and Eve are so called 'destined' to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledege of good and evil, and the explainations goes on and on and on...where i mentioned earlier that i do not have insterest in explaining what the exact concept is all about. In which i think being a Muslim I believe there's no such concept of Original Sin and Necessary Sin. But I still think The Vision of Piers the Plowman is a good text, after all, i haven't finish reading it and can't tell much about the text however i agree with the element of 'sad yet wiser' in the doctrine of the Necesarry Sin.
Just in case if you have any opinions, perhaps any good arguments regarding this matter, i would love to know, for i am still learning and still lacking of knowledge. As is said earlier it's only my point of view. Am sorry if i raise up this sensitive issue herein perhaps if it's not sounds sentitive to you, it may be sensitive to others. It's only the matter of belief. I worship Whom I worship, I believe what I believe.
To you be your way, and to me mine...
