I wana take this chance to wish all of you SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI, MAAF ZAHIR DAN BATIN....
A lot things to tell, lot of stories to share...
And I just wana share some...
I've been here for almost 1 month and a half. I was lil' shocked as i never thought that it's going to be this early to be sent to the offshore.
FYI. There are 56 men and a lady onboard. And yes am the only lady here... But these guys are all cool, friendly and willing to help whenever i need them. Well, maybe that's the privilege for being the only female here...
We sailed off from Labuan Port on the 31 August at 0300 and we reached Miri 12 hours later.
The most terrible thing i don't like to be on the vessel is being sea sick. It's even more painful than fever, flue, and cough, or PMS, or anything. U can't even stand properly, and what u want to do is either puke, or just lie on the bed ALL DAY ALL DAY IF U'S SEA SICK. That's how terrible sea sick is. U don't even feel want to eat. But u have to eat something AT LEAST or else the sea sick will be even worse. The trick to prevent sea sick is very simple. JUST MAKE SURE THAT UR STOMACH IS NOT EMPTY. So Ramadhan is a challenging month to go offshore for the first timer as u have to work and fast for 12 hours. NON STOP. NO HOLIDAY for OFFSHORE WORKS dear boys and girls....
But the best thing is, u can make friends with all kind of people here. The staffs here are not all from Malaysia, some are from the UK, South Africa, Poland, German, Philipines, Serbia (yes, he used to be one of the Serbian Army during Serbia-Bosnian War, 1992, and yes, he used to kill people) hahaha, but all of them are nice guy.
And one good thing, girls... u don't have to worry about fashion here. The only fashion around is COVERALL, SAFETY BOOTS, SAFETY HELMET and SAFETY GLASS (optional). So i don't really have to worry to stock all the new clothes as there's no time/ no place for you to dress up, UNLESS u want to show some new scarf, or hairstyles (if' u'r free hair).
Now am on the vessel and working for one of offshore construction companies specialized in Subsea Inspection, which includes Diving and ROV (Remote Operated Vehicles) operations.
And fortunately we have internet onboard regardless of no phonelines at several platform hehehe. We get the internet signal through sattelite system, which I don't really have knowledge about that. I'll get to you back once I know how the system works. Same goes to Dynamic Positioning System that we have onboard where we can Position the vessel accurately through sattelite system here.
Well gotta get back to work. My shift here starts from 0000 till 1200. Roger that! haha till my next entries guys!
